TPI – Golf Fitness

What is TPI?

Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) is the world’s leading educational organisation dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing.

TPI believes golfers will benefit the most from a healthy and efficient body.

TPI does not believe there is one way to swing a club, rather in an infinite number of swing styles. But, we do believe there is one efficient way for every player to swing and it is based on what the player can physically do.

To achieve an efficient swing, a golfer must first be screened.

What is a TPI Screening?

A TPI screen involves an assessment of swing mechanics and biomechanics, physical fitness, movement quality, current health and a client history.

The tests consist of 16 simple exercises and movements which will enable Glen to assess your mobility related to the golf swing.

Glen will do a small interview with you and a video analysis of your golf swing.

You’ll leave the TPI assessment with a custom plan, made up of your screening results, how they are related to your golf swing, technical advice and physical exercises to help you with your game.

Physical limitation or a technical fault?

Have you always had the same swing fault? Is this because your body can’t physically do the move you are trying to do? Or is it just a habit you have developed for many years?

A TPI screening can tell you the answer and move you forward in the right direction.

What if it’s a Physical Limitation?

Do not be worried if it is a physical limitation. Over 90% of Golfers will show limitations after completing the screening test. Glen can give you many golf specific exercises to help reduce the limitation.

If your physical limitation is a lifelong condition and the exercises will not help you, Glen can still help. Knowing your limitations and the movements you can or cannot do will help Glen improve your golf swing. It is important for a coach to know how your body works.

Everyone’s golf swing is unique and should be built around the way you move. Glen can help you get around your limitations and help you hit the ball further, straighter and more consistent.

Suffer with back pain when playing golf?

Glen can also assist you if your golf swing is causing you back pain, by showing you the technical reasons why this could be happening with possible solutions.

Glen has a wide network of professional contacts he can advise you to see. Whether you require medical treatment, further assistance with your physical exercises or physical therapy treatment.

“A golfer will see the greatest improvement by surrounding themselves with a team of experts. Similarly, any professional in the golf industry will see their clients benefit most by themselves being part of a network or team of professionals.” TPI 2003

TPI was created to help some of the top golfers around the world. 18 of the last 20 Major Championships were won by players advised by a TPI Certified Expert.
